Stenocereus Beneckei - Characteristics
Lo Stenocereus Beneckei è cactus columnar shrub-like plant native to central Mexico. It belongs to the Superior Classification of Pachycereeae and in the wild it can reach up to two metres in height. Its special feature is that it still manages to maintain a very slender diameter of 10 centimetres or even less! Its stem is bluish-green in colour with a waxy epidermis covered with a kind of whitish patina that covers it to protect it from the weather. Its areoles are small, and dark-coloured spines protrude from them. This plant flowers in winter during the night, producing large, delicately coloured flowers. However, its flowers have a very short life span, lasting about a day.
