Echinocereus engelmannii acicularis - Characteristics
Echinocereus engelmannii acicularis is a cactacea characteristic of the US and Mexican areas and has quite variable characteristics. In fact, it is a species that includes a large number of varieties which tend, however, always to be columnar cacti, in which several stems grow together almost to form a sort of cushion of spines. The radial spines are arranged in a corolla-like pattern in an orderly manner, and are light in colour, while the central spines are generally longer and more robust, have a disorderly pattern and range in colour from yellow to reddish, even black. Such distinctive cacti flower in spring, producing large, striking pink and magenta flowers.
