Copiapoa Montana - Characteristics
The "Copiapoa Montana"is a cactus with a cylindrical habit and rather slow growth that belongs to the tribe of the Notocactaceae. This cactus is native to the Atacama Desert in Chile, and owes its name to the city of Copiapó. It generally presents a slight depression in the apex and has ribs well defined by numerous rounded tubercles surrounded by many small downy areoles. It is precisely from its areoles that many short, thin, greyish-white spines protrude, and during the flowering period they produce beautiful, deep yellow flowers.
