Copiapoa Humilis - Characteristics

The "Copiapoa Humilis" is a plant cactacea globose that belongs to the tribe of the Notocactaceae which can grow at the base over time. This cactus is native to the Atacama Desert in Chile, and owes its name to the city of Copiapó. It generally presents a slight depression in the apex and has ribs well defined by numerous rounded tubercles surrounded by many small downy areoles. It is from its areoles that many short, thin, greyish-white spines protrude, which tend to darken with time. During the flowering period they produce beautiful, deep yellow flowers.
