Echinofossulocactus – Online Sell
The “Echinofossulocactus” are cacti that owe their name to the Greek word “echìnos” (“hedgehog”) and from the Latin word “fossula” (“small pit”). This combination of words refers to its primary characteristics, namely the globular stem covered with thorns that makes it look like a hedgehog, and the very accentuated and deep ribs.
The areoles are sparse and rather irregular, the spines are usually robust and rather long, and even in very young specimens, they are longer than the size of the body. They generate a small but very showy inflorescence composed of small funnel-shaped flowers with delicate colours, often purple that create a pleasant contrast with the yellow of the central stamens.
