Copiapoa – Online sale
Copiapoa is Cactaceae that derive their name from the city of Copiapò, located in the Atacama area in Chile. They are plants that need rather arid climatic conditions and are difficult to reproduce in other places. When they are small they have a globular appearance and are solitary and covered with a whitish bloom that with growth have a tendency to stretch and lose the patina that covers them to take on increasingly bright colours. At the same time, they tend to form bushes and lose that patina to take on much more vivid colours.
The stem has numerous ribs and tubercles covered with thick thorns. Copiapoa is quite slow-growing and needs more care than other cacti. The blooms are particularly lively and decorative and protrude apically from the fluff.
