Astrophytum coahuilense Lerdo – Characteristics
The Astrophytum coahuilense Lerdo is a species of Cactaceae typical of the Mexican state of Coahuila, at first glance, it appears very similar to Astrophytum myriostigma, although in terms of characteristics it can be considered more similar to A. Capricorne. The most evident distinguishing feature is undoubtedly the flower which has the characteristic red throat as well as the number of seeds produced, in a very similar quantity to the A. Capricorne. It can generally have from three to seven ribs, most commonly five, well marked and with a delineated edge without areoles or spines. The flowers, funnel-shaped and yellow with a red interior, bloom during the spring from the apex of the plant.
